The three verification paths that have to work

Whatever you pick, the same credential has to resolve through three routes, and they fail differently.

The scan. Someone points a phone at a QR code on a printed certificate or an event handout. This is where cropped codes bite. The QR specification, ISO/IEC 18004, requires a quiet zone of four modules on every side to decode reliably. Trim it to fit the layout and scanners fail — usually only on the printed copies nobody tested.

How to run a pilot that tells you something
